INALCO is bad. Yes it is.

When I chose to focus on languages instead of economics or history, I was hoping to find a vector for efficient learning.

However the reality of teaching in Inalco is more a quagmire than a vector.

When you have too much formal learning on your weekly schedule, this is usually for the worst.

If you can combine, both informal and formal learning, that way you WILL learn efficiently for sure.

Bashing your head against homeworks all night long (thus getting sleep deprived), this doesn’t help in learning. I’ve done that for one year now. This works for very basic language skills, but after one year has passed, I definitely feel that learning by reading and writing materials I seldom chose would have much better results than blindly following basic directives from a tutor.

So basically, I think we should have more classes per week, but less homework to do at home, so that we can learn by ourselves sometimes and use informal learning as much as possible. We should do more activities, on longer timespan instead of short lessons (1 hour and a half up to 2 hours sometimes) spread here and there on our weekly schedule.
Having too much homework to do is just bad. Can’t spend time to look for grammar points or vocabulary by ourselves anymore. This is stupid.

Seriously there is a need for a change here. Paths have to be rewritten sometimes, as they get old and full of all kind of garbage previous pilgrims have left on the road, while on their quest for knowledge.

Not sure this even made sense, but that’s it. My two cents for today.
